MY STORY Pt 1: Sciatica

I first started to experience back pain and sciatica in my early 20’s whilst studying at university.

The pain would come and go every now and then and being young and stupid I chose to ignore it.

Over the years it gradually became more of an issue and eventually I did go to see my GP and a sports physiotherapist at Bath University.

My GP prescribed me strong painkiller drugs to mask the pain, a standard response from the healthcare system!

And the physio suggested that I was imagining it! They said, if anything, I probably just had tight hamstrings and not sciatic pain from the early stages of a disc herniation!

I sometimes wonder how different my life might have been if I had discovered foundation training at this point. I am fairly certain that I would not have experienced years of pain before eventually having spinal surgery.
