After some time lying in my hospital bed I decided that I had to move.
Inspired by KIll Bill, I tried to wiggle my toes first. To my relief, I was able to wiggle them. I am not paralysed, that’s a good start!
Now get up. I slowly sat up feeling incredibly stiff and sore in my lower back but no sciatic pain.
My sciatic pain was always most noticeable in forward flexion (forward bend at the hip). I would get a sharp pain all the way down my right leg.
Forward flexion was the test that I needed to do in order to determine whether or not my operation had been a success.
