It was now six months since my operation and I had returned to work. Day to day I felt okay but I was still vulnerable, weak, unsure and constantly in fear of the pain returning.
The first time the sciatic pain returned I felt physically sick.
I was in bed simply trying to get to sleep when out of the blue I felt a sharp tingly feeling in my leg.
The pain wasn’t anywhere near as intense as the pain I had experienced before my operation but it caused me to panic and I didn’t sleep that night.
Over the next few weeks I experienced several brief spells of mild sciatic pain leading up to one spell that lasted more than 24 hours.
I felt angry. I couldn’t believe that this was happening all over again.
It was at this moment that I decided to take responsibility for my back pain and sort the problem out once and for all.
I started to research.
